Autumn Worming in Fullstride: Test First, Treat If Needed

Turn on the FEC worming plan in Fullstride to get an autumn faecal egg count reminder, record the result, and let Fullstride schedule deworming and the 14-day retest when they are needed.

As we head into autumn in Australia (March–May), it is a good time to review your horse's parasite control with your vet. A faecal egg count (FEC) measures egg shedding and helps guide treatment decisions. It does not measure every parasite or rule out parasitic disease; interpret the result with your vet as part of your horse's wider care plan.

Turn on the FEC worming plan

Not everyone follows an FEC-based approach, so the plan is off by default. To use it:

  1. Open your horse's profile and go to Health.
  2. In the FEC worming plan card, select Turn on.

Fullstride adds an Autumn FEC and a Spring FEC check to Upcoming care and your synced calendar. The months follow your account's time zone: in Australia and the rest of the southern hemisphere that is March for autumn and September for spring.

If your vet has you on a different program, leave the plan off. You can still log worming as normal.

When your Autumn FEC is due

Collect a fresh manure sample and send it to your vet or lab. When the result comes back, open the Autumn FEC reminder and select Complete, then enter:

  • the date the sample was taken
  • the FEC count (eggs per gram)
  • Do you need to deworm? Yes or No

If you do not need to deworm

Fullstride saves the result to your horse's health history and schedules next year's Autumn FEC.

If you do need to deworm

  1. Fullstride adds a Deworm step. When you complete it, record which wormer you used.
  2. Fullstride schedules an FECRT (faecal egg count reduction test) for 14 days later.
  3. When you complete the FECRT, enter the new count. Fullstride shows the percentage reduction from the pre-treatment count, for your vet to interpret alongside the test method and treatment used.

Next year's Autumn FEC is still scheduled from the date of your original test.

Why this helps

  • FEC results, wormers used and retest results sit together in your horse's health history
  • deworming is based on a result, not an assumption
  • the 14-day retest and next year's check are scheduled for you
  • the same workflow runs again in spring, so you have a steady rhythm through the year

You can turn the plan off at any time from the same card. Upcoming reminders are removed, and your completed results stay in your horse's history.
