Fullstride is growing, and here's where we're heading

Fullstride is growing. We’re building a more connected way to manage your horses and the people, businesses, events and places around them. Here’s where we’re heading and what comes next.

Fullstride is growing

Fullstride started with an idea: build an application to connect horse people and their providers to make it easier to keep track of horse care. Health records, care, appointments, training and all the little pieces of information that usually end up scattered between notebooks, calendars, messages and memory.

That is still a big part of what we're building.

But the more we've worked on Fullstride, the clearer it's become that looking after a horse is only one part of a much bigger picture. Horse owners work with trainers, farriers, vets, bodyworkers and other equine businesses. Horses move between properties and care arrangements. We go to clinics, competitions and events. Agistment properties have their own records and routines to manage. Event organisers are trying to coordinate entries, payments and participants.

Most of these things are connected in real life, but the software we use usually isn't. This is why we have changed the overall Fullstride platform and the direction Fullstride is now heading in.

First, a better home for your horse

The next release starts putting the foundations of that direction in place. The horse management side of Fullstride is becoming its own dedicated part of the platform: Fullstride Horse. This is where you'll manage the everyday information around your horses, their health, care, training, appointments, records and history.

One of the ideas behind the new Fullstride is that you shouldn't have to enter the same information over and over again. Your horse should have a useful history that builds over time. A ride can sit alongside a saddle fitting. A health issue can be seen in the context of recent training. FEC results can become part of an ongoing parasite-management history rather than a number you receive and then forget about.

We're working towards making Fullstride somewhere you can actually build that history, not just another place to enter data.

Fullstride is becoming more than one app

As Fullstride grows, we're separating the different things people need to do into dedicated parts of the platform. That means Fullstride won't become one enormous app with every possible horse-related feature squeezed into the same menu.

Instead, the pieces will work together.

Horse

Fullstride Horse is the home for managing your horses.

  • It's where their care, health, training, records and history come together.
  • This remains at the heart of Fullstride and is the part you'll see us concentrating on first.
  • This part is free for users.

Events

Fullstride Events is planned as a simpler way to find, enter and manage equestrian events.

  • For riders, the aim is to make entering an event straightforward.
  • For organisers, we want to make creating an event, taking entries, managing participants and handling payments considerably easier than many of the systems people currently have to work with.
  • The important part is that Events won't need to exist completely separately from the rest of Fullstride.
  • If your horse is already in Fullstride, that information will be able to work with Events too.

Business

Fullstride Business is where we're exploring tools for equine professionals.

  • There is another side of the horse industry we want to make easier: the relationship between horse owners and the people who work with their horses.
  • Trainers, farriers, bodyworkers, coaches and other equine businesses all keep their own appointments, records and client information.
  • The goal isn't simply to build another booking system. It's to make it easier for businesses and horse owners to work together.

Stable

Fullstride Stable will initially focus on agistment and the everyday work involved in managing a property.

  • Including Bringing horses onto the property, care instructions, feeding, records, communication and eventually offboarding when they leave.
  • Over time, we expect this area to grow to support different types of horse operations as well.

The important part is how these pieces connect

This is really the reason for the change. We don't want to build Horse, Events, Business and Stable as four unrelated products where you have to create the same horse, person and information four times. They're different parts of the same world.

  • Imagine having your horse in Fullstride Horse and then being able to use that horse information automatically when entering an event.
  • Giving someone caring for your horse access to the information they need before arriving at the stables.
  • Being able to keep important records from the people who work with your horse as part of the horse's longer-term history.
  • Use the collected information to help diagnose issues, correlate your training data with feeding and discover the patterns of behaviour.

That's where we want Fullstride to go.

Not everything needs to be connected, and you should remain in control of what is shared. But when information genuinely belongs together, the platform should make that possible.

One Fullstride, without having to use everything

Building Fullstride this way also means you won't need every part of it. If all you want is somewhere to manage your own horses, Fullstride Horse will work perfectly well on its own.

  • Someone else might use Horse and Events.
  • An agistment property might use Stable and Business.
  • An event organiser may primarily use Events.

The idea is that you have one Fullstride account and use the parts that are useful to you.

What changes with the next release?

You won't suddenly see every one of these products appear at once. The next release is about moving Fullstride towards this new structure and improving the Horse experience that already exists.

  • You'll start to see clearer separation between your Fullstride account and the horses you manage, improvements to how horse information is organised, and the foundations for the different parts of Fullstride to work together in the future.
  • Some familiar things may move or look a little different as part of that work. We're deliberately doing this now so we can keep improving Horse without turning it into a catch-all for every future Fullstride feature.

We can't wait for this too all come to fruition and we cannot do it without your support and usage. So please jump on it, give us your feedback and join the Facebook community and let us know what you love or hate about the app so far!
